A higher efficiency class with a virtually identical motor frame size
Just switch over starting on January 1, 2015
As of January 1, 2015, all 2, 4, and 6-pole asynchronous motors with a power rating of 7.5 kW or higher that are put on the market in the European Union, Switzerland or Turkey must meet the requirements for efficiency class IE3.
With a few exceptions, asynchronous motors for this power range may not be put on the market unless they meet the energy efficiency requirements. Two years later, on January 1, 2017, the IE3 requirement will come into effect for all asynchronous motors in the power range between 0.75 kW and 375 kW.
